Artist Bio

Stefano Puri is a contemporary composer. He started at a very early age as a singer in a liturgical choir; later, he studied piano, composition ad orchestration. Prior to joining classical and symphonic music, his musical conscience grows in parallel within sacred music (especially liturgical music) and obscure music (Post-Punk, Dark-wave, Gothic, Neo-folk, Black Metal).

In Stefano Puri’s music, light and darkness, asceticism and sensuality, minimalism and pomposity live dialogically, sometimes in harmony, others in contrast.

His production ranges from short meditations for solo instruments (“Mentre lei dorme”, “Preludio a Dicembre“, “gli amanti crocifissi”, “Il ricordo di un sorriso”, “i demoni”, for piano; “Prima dell’ora” for solo violin, “Le tue fredde labbra” for viola and piano, “Canto di madre” for viola and choir) to larger compositions for ensembles or orchestra (“Come un prodigio” for piano and orchestra; “Marian songs” for soprano and strings quintet; “La corsa verso casa”, for orchestra; “Un solco di luce”, for soli, choir and orchestra).
A good deal of  Stefano Puri’s production is then dedicated to choral music, sacred (“Lode cosmica”, “Trisaghion”, “The wedding mass”, “Ubi caritas” “Missa in Nativitate Domini”, “Nicola di Myra”) – and secular (“The Ghost”, “Asleep!”, “Fragments of the Blue Bird”, “Pornographia”, “Requiem for a black heart”).
Conductor of OFFICINA CORALE (Choir dedicated to contemporary music), founder and conductor of the ENSEMBLE MYSTERIUM (vocal quartet specializing in the performance of early music), is responsible for contemporary music at the Basilica of the XII Holy Apostles (Rome).

From 2003 to 2005 he collaborated with SPIRITUAL FRONT (Piano / Keyboards / Strings arrangements), with which he made “BEDTIME/BADTIME” and, above all, the much-acclaimed “ARMAGEDDON GIGOLO ‘.”

In December 2009 he founded (with his brother Gianni Puri and Giorgio Felicetti) the ritual-darkwave project IVASHKEVICH (www.ivashkevich.it). In 2011 their first self-titled EP “Ivashkevich.”

From 2012- 2013  he collaborated Again with SPIRITUAL FRONT (composition /piano / arrangements)  for the Concept Album Black Hearts in Black Suits .
